This week’s focus: It wasn’t a good week for President Biden.
Criticizing politicians is low-hanging fruit, but when it involves the competency of the “leader of the free world” the concern is magnified. It’s objectively reasonable to conclude that President Biden is aging, and his cognitive ability is waning. That’s not a Fox News headline—it’s conspicuously evident. As I’ve shared on my social media channels, of equal concern is that those close to him, both family and staff, disgracefully prop him up like a Weekend at Bernie’s character.
As John Stewart noted recently on The Daily Show, if President Biden is so competent and articulate in the business of the White House, other than classified meetings why not record and share those moments with us?
A biblical worldview mandates that we submit to and pray for our secular leaders (Romans 13:1; 1 Peter 2:11-25), as long as they do not compel us to reject Christ or His teachings (Acts 4:18-20). Demonstrating this directive, Jesus paid taxes (and instructed His followers to do the same) to the very secular government He knew would persecute and kill Him and His followers (Matthew 22:15-22). So, it’s not about President Biden being a Democrat or opposing biblical values—it’s much more about the ongoing gaslighting we experience these days.
As I stated recently on Facebook, as “overused” as some consider the concept to be, gaslighting (the systematic, incremental manipulation of reality to support an opposing agenda) is still very real. Of course, the most effective “gaslighter” in all human history is Satan, who still says to us, as he did to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, “Go ahead, reject God—you won’t die!”
On that subject, without a commitment or training to research, study, and reflect upon information, or be open to being wrong, we are creating artificial intelligence in humans long before the robots take over. Facts remain stubborn and incredibly important things. The question is not whether President Biden is “losing a step” but rather, “Because he IS losing a step, what does that mean for us?”
As of this writing it appears we will have a very challenging choice for President of the United States in November. But for those who serve an eternal kingdom, it’s our responsibility to seek God and follow His instructions…all the while biblically submitting to and praying for our nation’s leaders. If for no other reason than to put our trust in God and His word.
